On June 27th, John was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, which has metastasized to the liver, pelvis and glutes. He had emergency surgery to remove a tumor that was causing internal bleeding, resulting in 7 blood transfusions and bowel resection. He then developed post surgical ileus, and a few weeks later a bowel obstruction.
After getting past his first hurdle, he now has an even larger battle ahead of him, as he starts his first cycle of chemotherapy.
John was a wellness coach for most of his life, who has helped many. He has the rare ability to make everyone that he encounters feel important— not only with his charm and wit, but with his kind soul.
He has a heart of a warrior, and I’ve started this page to rally all of the people who love him. Together we can help ease the financial stress that comes along with treatment and recovery! Let’s make his Ithaka journey come true.
