Mom/teen son church trip
Donation protected
My name Is Elizabeth Colbert and I am a wife, mother to 4 kids, and an elementary school teacher. My oldest son Joey, 16, heard about our church taking a trip to Israel and knew right away he was called to be a part of this trip. We have stepped out in faith to go at the end of March. Joey was born early with a slew of delays and medical issues including hips dislocated, low muscle tone, macrocephaly, an extra finger and more. He has had 10 surgeries so far, 7 before he was 7. He was unable to walk until he was 2. He spent over 30 weeks in a body cast from waist to ankles. The first 10 years of his life were met with obstacle after obstacle, therapists, doctors and hospitalizations, yet he never gave up. Our faith in God's restoration power continued to prove he would and has overcome. Currently, Joey holds a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, something doctors didn't believe he could do.
I am the preschool coordinator for my church, Joey serves on the media team and helps with the children's department whenever asked. As a family we have a servant's heart and are willing to bless others any opportunity we can. This trip will open up the Bible to each of us personally, but Joey specifically is looking to hear God's voice about his future while there. We both feel it is a crucial turning point for his life. This is to be a catalyst for him in his ministry ahead.
This fall Joey starting working a part time job with the sole purpose to earn money for this trip. He has forgone his driver's license or a car to put everything he could in making this happen. Our family has made sacrifices to
ensure it is possible, but we could really use some additional help. Won't you please give, even just a little? I know the lifelong impact from the experiences will be HUGE. We must pay the remaining balance of our trip by Feb 2nd. Any money given is an answer to prayer and we are overwhelmingly appreciative. Thank you for taking the time to read our story!
Sincerely,
Elizabeth and Joey Colbert
