Send Joe Byron off to France for his 60th!

I remember when I was 11 years old I began dreaming of Aix en Provence and the South of France. Our dad would head there for writing retreats during the summer months and return with bags full of writing and saffron. He'd describe the people he met and coffee and the weather. The way he used to talk about traveling planted the seed in our hearts to do the same. It is one of the most valuable lessons we could have learned from him.
He never took photos on his trips, remarking that he wanted to remember things in his thoughts and on paper. He used to hold on to jet lag as long as he could after he returned so he could stay in that other time zone and remember the adventure he'd just been on.
But unfortunately, It's been over 15 years since he's been out there. For those of you who know him well, you know how dedicated he is to the Los Angeles Film School and his friends and family, how much time he has invested in woodworking. I imagine its hard for him to justify making the time and gathering the money for a good trip.
So for his 60th birthday, we'd like to raise money to get him there and put him up. For a week or for two weeks. To continue to write poems or to reunite with his unfinished novel, "Notes on a Blue Door."
We'd also like to show him how many friends and admirers he has and get him a gift from the community that surrounds him.
His birthday is February 1st and we hope to have all funds raised by then!
