Joanne's Medical bills and expenses

Joanne is a Special Needs Para-professional who works one on one or one to few with children with special needs for one of our local schools. Her kids range from 2nd grade to 5th grade and they are the joy that fills her life. She is an easy going, kind and loving person who is always at the ready to help anyone else and thinks of herself last.
In late July she was hospitalized for inability to move or stand for even short periods of time, shortness of breath and torso and chest pains. While in the hospital they discovered a small blockage in a small artery in her heart and her lab results were showing abnormal levels in her blood counts and a number of other levels like creatinine were not normal levels. They did a number of tests and lab work ups and she was then diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, Anemia and Chronic Kidney Disease. Joanne is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments and will be for an undetermined amount of time going forward. They are looking to schedule a possible kidney and bone marrow simultaneous transplant in the near future but are waiting currently to see if the chemotherapy can brings her numbers down enough to align for her to be her own doner for the bone marrow portion of it. They are also starting to look at the typing and matching of relatives and friends for the kidney.
Joanne is not able to resume her work at the school and is also not covered by short or long term disability insurance. She is able to use days from her time off and also from a time off pool that is available at the school which covers her salary through the end of October. At that point though we will have to assume the payment of her medical insurance premiums as well as any copays and percentages not covered by the insurance. So far Joanne has had to spend almost two weeks in the hospital and will have to spend at least three weeks in a hospital in Boston for the transplants. We have been so involved in the emotional and practical side of this with the diagnosis, treatments, doctor appointments, specialists with the scheduling and arrangement of rides that we haven't even tried to estimate what the cost is going to be overall! So this is the reason I have started this Go Fund Me page for us!
Joanne's friends have been so wonderfull jumping right in to visit, provide rides, advocate for us with school and being there for anything! We cannot begin to express our thanks to them for their kindness, generosity, thoughts and prayers. Joanne's family has also been right there from the beginning. They have pour out their love, comfort, understanding and prayers without limits. Joanne's brother Moe has been doing the research and coordination of the family for the typing and matching work and we'll never be able to thank him enough for all his efforts!
