Jin Sook Lee: (1961-2018) Wife and mother of two sons.  Born in Korea and came to America when she was 29 years old.   She has been a faithful member of Korean United Presbyterian Church.   She opened her own business (Astor Cleaners) in 2001.  Since 2001, she has worked in the lake view community by providing a cleaning and alteration service.  It is safe to say that she was beloved by her customers!

Jin was initially diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2012.  After careful thoughts and prayers,  we decided it was best for Jin to go to Korea to undergo surgery to remove the tumor in her stomach.  The surgery was a success; until it relapse in 2017.  This time, the cancer was causing a blockage in her stomach and it became difficult for her to have proper nutrition. We were hopeful that chemo therapy would have a positive effect on her, but her health deteriorated in a span of three months and the cancer spread through her stomach and throat.  Unfortunately, surgery was not an option because of her health and the fact that the cancer spread to multiple organs in her body.  The last weeks leading to her passing, she spent multiple days in and out of the hospital to get various treatments. She ended her battle with cancer on February 9th and we were with her the entire time as she made her journey from this world to heaven.

My mom was the anchor in our family. She worked extremely hard; up to 70 hours a week, without a real vacation for close to twenty years.  She was an amazing mother who sacrificed and came to America to give her sons the opportunities she didn’t have.  I am extremely thankful for her love and sacrifice.  During the last four years, Jin was also a beloved grandmother!  She loved her two grandkids and spent an abundant amount of time with Micah(4) and Noah(1). The kids truly brought joy to her life and often times they were the source of her will to fight for her life these past months.

Jin is survived by her husband, two sons, and two grandsons!

*A special note to my mom’s customers:
It is evident by your care and concern, you all had a very special relationship with my mother. I want to thank you for the prayers and love you have shown, especially these past couple of months.  I appreciate all the stories you have shared with me and it is such a heart warming thought that you consider my mom as family.   I feel personally connected with all of you through my mom.  A lot of you have been faithfully coming to our store since the beginning.  You all have been with our family for the past twenty years, so I am speechless at our loss. Thank you for choosing our store and allowing us to serve you for two decades.  We reciprocate the love you have and are truly thankful for each and everyone of you!!

Sincerely,
Samuel Lee
