Jim Dillard-Long Overdue Surgery

A dear friend of mine, Jim Dillard with the local school district Maintenance Dept. has been battling with the wonderful insurance system and it has failed him. I am trying to get him some much needed help so he can once again return to work until he is ready to retire. Here is his story:
I was working on the school's HVAC, and backed off a 8" concrete slab and fell onto my back. I was informed that I had fractured my L2 vertebrae and was going to be referred to an orthopedic surgeon. Months of exams followed along with constant pain and pain medications.
Latest Update:
After fighting for 2 years with Workers Comp and my Insurance company, (neither want to pay for the needed surgery), we have decided to bite the bullet and get the surgery done and pay "out of pocket" for it. Yes, it will be costly. The biggest catch is where we found the lowest cost to do so. Laser Spine Institute has the best price on getting this done. However, we will have to travel to Tampa, Florida.
On December 13 thru 15 they will be doing testing on me (MRI, exams, etc) to ensure I am a good candidate for the surgery. With all the information, reports, and forms I have sent to them, this shouldn't be a problem. The surgery is scheduled for December 18. Post-Op exam is set for the next day. Afterwards we will begin our journey home.
Please keep Jim in your prayers. He would never dream of asking for help but this is a lot of money to come up with, in one lump sum. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know we all are struggling this time of year so if you can not contribute to this dear man's unfortunate dilemma, it is understood. Thank you!
