Jim Flanagan Vs. Cancer

On May 19,2012 our dad Jim Flanagan went in for emergency surgery for a hernia. That day changed our lives forever. The Dr.s also found a 5.5 AAA (abdominal aortic aneurism) that needed to be fixed but also a large mass in his abdomen. He spent two weeks in the hospital getting tests on this large unknown mass and recovering. Within 12 hours of being released he was rushed back into the hospital for another ruptured hernia. The surgeon decided this mass needed to come out. 2 hours later they fixed his hernia and removed a 7 lb. mass. He beat the odds and pulled through both surgeries. He is a "Fighter." We received the news that the mass was cancer.It is a soft tissue fibro-sarcoma. Which is a very aggressive reoccurring cancer. He had 6 weeks of radiation. When he went in for his PET scan to see how he was responding, the oncologist called immediately to inform us that his AAA had grown to a 7 an needed to be fixed, now! His surgeon said he needed to be opened up and that he odds didn't look good because of the radiation and two prior surgeries. " it is hostel territory." God placed a wonderful family in our lives and got my dads scans to another Dr. He is going to try to go in through both his legs to repair the AAA.

On top of this they are losing their house! So endless medical bills, fighting cancer, our mother's bad heart with no medical insurance, and not working much so she can help take care of our dad, they need to find a place to live. They have been trying to modify their home for years with no-avail. They are now trying to short sale to by some time for our Dad to have more surgery and recover.

My parents are fighters with an overwhelming amount of obstacles in front of them. We also know that his cancer is a recurring cancer and that battle is not over yet. We are asking for prayers and any donations to help at this time.With medical care we know he can beat this!!!
