I met my husband Nick on Twitter in 2012. We fell in love after developing a very deep friendship. Many things have stood in our way, the biggest feat being 4,000 miles and an ocean between us. Nick is English and lives in London where he is a full-time caregiver to his disabled mother.
We met for the first time face-to-face in September of 2012 when Nick flew to the States. It was a meeting worth the long wait, obstacles and miles between us.
Nick was in The States for three weeks; he met my family (minus my brother, who was still deployed in South Korea) and my friends. we got to know each other in person, enhancing what we knew of each other from text and phone conversations. We knew we were in love and we knew we wanted to be with each other. We said a tearful good-bye to each other and knew we had to start working towards marriage.
Nick and I set a wedding date, knowing that given the situation of our relationship we would probably not receive the acceptance or blessing of a lot of people in our lives. Once again our Twitter family helped us fund our wedding by buying crocheted items made by me or just by giving freely of their money as a gift.
On April 13th, 2013, Nick and I got married. He came here alone once again; no friends or family from his home could be here. We had a total of 14 people at our wedding, including Nick and I. It was perfect thanks to the awesome people who rallied around us to help make the day possible. After two weeks together, Nick once again returned to England.
Now, we are asking for help again. The immigration process is a long and expensive journey. Our goal as a couple is to help raise the funds we need to jump start the process. Any help we can get is much appreciated.
