Fight for Jessie Orange III

Donation protected
Dear friends and family our daddy, Jessie Orange III, was diagnosed with stage 3 Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma on May 11, 2018. A tumor slowly grew on the left side of his face, which is why he decided to be seen at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. Shortly, after finding the tumor was cancerous and very aggressive doctors recommended our dad go to M.D. Anderson Cancer Treatment Center in Houston, TX for the best possible treatment and outcome. After talking with our family, and much prayer he decided to follow the recommendation and started his journey to Houston. Immediately after meeting with his Doctor they decided to have surgery to remove the tumor first. After multiple test the doctor explained to our dad, that the surgery would be risky because the nerves the tumor surrounds. She informed him that the slightest touch of that nerve could leave his face paralyzed. Both my dad and the doctor being in great spirits set a date for removal. Shortly after making these plans Our Grandpa, Jessie Orange II passed away abruptly, from an unfortunate car accident. Nearly one day after burying his father he set out to Houston to start his fight with cancer.
June 18, 2018, my daddy had a ten-hour surgery which was originally set to be three to five hours. The doctors took their time, being extremely careful around the nerve, and updating us every 2 hours. Once complete, the doctor said once she had cut the tumor in half it was almost if a protective covering surrounded the nerve. Which she has never seen before and is the very reason she was able to save his nerve. The only reason she felt the need to mention that to us, is because she was in such amazement and believed it to be because of our dad’s relationship with Christ. Along with the tumor, some muscle, bone and lymph nodes were also removed. After removal and testing, almost all tested cancerous. Daddy was released from the hospital two days later with his left side of his face is temporarily paralyzed. The doctor explained to us that some of the cancer was removed during surgery, but with how aggressive the cancer is not all was able to be removed. She also explained to us that in order to save the nerve she had to cut the tumor in half, which she really hates to do, because of the major risk of it spreading. She finally explained to us that he has to undergo both radiation and chemotherapy. His doctor understanding the inconvenience both financially and timing wise, she attempted to talk to facilities in Oklahoma for his treatments to be completed. After much effort, unfortunately she was unable to and decided his treatments will be taken at M.D. Anderson for 6 to 7 weeks straight. Which includes 5 days a week with 2 days rest, (4 days radiation, 1 chemo) which begins July 30, 2018.
With that being said my parents need help. Our mom, LaDonna Orange, who became disabled in 2015 (from her own personal fight with illness), currently works at a hotel in order to maintain and help with bills and simple everyday living. Our dad is now unable to work due to his fight, which adds more to her plate as well. Unfortunately, once our dad starts treatment she will have to quit to take care of daddy during and after. Our goal is to raise 5600.00 to help my parents with bills and the Houston expenses. Collectively their household bills add to about 1300.00 monthly. And for his treatments in Houston roughly 3,600.00. Breaking down to 600.00 a week in expenses ( rental car, gas, hotel, and food). My dad has touchedw so many people with his uplifting spirit, patience, kindness, and love for God. And not once from his diagnoses, the passing of his father, or even his surgery or the news given thereafter, has he hung his head or said one negative thing. And if everyone he met helped just a little, rather that’s one cent or one prayer that would help him tremendously. Please keep our entire family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you & please continue to share!
