Jessie's Volunteer Trip to Costa Rica

Friends and family - I have been accepted into a International Volunteer Program and I will be going to Costa Rica for 3 weeks in January 2015!! 

While I am there I will be helping with the childcare program, and for those that know me know how much I absolutely love kids! The aim of the Childcare project is to provide individual attention and assistance to children from difficult backgrounds in Costa Rica. Many of these children do not receive the level of education and affection that they deserve, and volunteers play an important role in working alongside local staff to improve the educational, emotional, and hygiene conditions of the children.

I don't know exactly what I'll be doing yet, but options include working in orphanages, community centers, day-care centers, schools, soup kitchens and kindergartens. 

Not only will this trip help me on my path to get a wonderful job in the field that I love, it will also be the trip and experience of a lifetime (and my first trip alone to another country, ah)! Money will go towards airfare, program fee, passport, insurance, immunizations, and spending money while there. Any amount will help get me there, and be so so extremely appreciated!
