Jessica Williamson Johnson Recovery

Donation protected
Jessica Williamson Johnson (36, of Dubois PA, Husband Andy, children Makenna, Brooks) suffered a devastating stroke in the early morning hours of Feb 5, 2017. No prior symptoms and no real warning except flu-like symptoms before going to bed.

Husband Andy found her unconscious on the bathroom floor during the night. She was taken by ambulance to the Dubois Hospital and then flighted to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Jessica has been there since, in intensive care, with all manner of medical intervention. Her initial condition was challenging, with little response and no real prognosis from the doctors for days.

Surgery was done mid-week to relieve brain swelling. This seems to have improved the situation. The stroke has mostly affected her right side

Specialists have since been a bit more forthcoming with a prognosis. There have been signs of feeling and even movement in Jessica's right side extremities. That is encouraging. One specialist did say "She is young. She will recover, but it will take time." We are all living by that statement.

Jessica is still in ICU, and when released from the hospital, she will be in rehabilitation for quite some time. As we all know, not all medical bills are paid by insurance. There are deductibles and co-pays in every situation, and there will invitably be costs for home care and rehabilitation.

Andy is a Dubois PA Area School teacher, and Jessica has a job at Goodwill. They have two beautiful, wonderful children, Makenna (4) and Brooks (2).

They will be assuming some very large expenses during the course of this recovery.

Like most young couples in Western PA, they have a comfortable life and a mortgage on a nice house for the family, but they do not have a large savings to get them through this. Andy is taking unpaid family medical leave for the remainder of this semester.

There is a family support network in and around Dubois, but in addition to or in lieu of monetary assistance, you might be able to provide babysitting, food prep or housecleaning, yard work or other help.

Anything you can do will help this family cope, including the love that you send along with your contribution. That means a lot, too.

We thank you all for reading and caring. Please pray with us for the best possible outcome and a recovery faster than the experts claim.
