Dear Friends and Family,
This July I will be trekking across the globe to Nairobi and Hamisi, Kenya to volunteer with Crossroads Springs Africa and need your support. The crisis of orphans in Africa is real. Normally when we hear about this in the news we just glaze over it because it's not new. The crisis is still going on and is still very much real. It finally took me knowing someone that was doing something about it to get involved, which is how it is going to work here. You know me! And I am raising funds to get me to Kenya this summer. Will you take action and help? I want to be at the school/orphanage in person to help, but need your help to raise the necessary funds to make this trip happen. I will contribute $1 dollar for every $3 dollars that is collected on my GoFundMe Webpage with a goal of reaching $3000 ($4000 total) by June 15, 2015. Donations in small or large increments are appreciated! Whatever your heart leads you to give. For those who have already donated I am very grateful.
A little background on the organization I'll be going with: Crossroads Springs Africa is the 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that supports and collaborates with Crossroads Springs Institute in Hamisi, Kenya, providing loving care and education for 340 children who have lost one or both of their parents to AIDS. Their vision is to provide a healthy, nurturing environment to orphan and other vulnerable children so that they become confident happy learners. Their goal is to ensure that these children are effectively educated, develop skills to support themselves and help others, and become a key source of economic and leadership strength in their communities.
I was introduced to this organization because my mother-in-law went with this group to Hamisi, Kenya two years ago. Many members of the organization are nurses, like my mother-in-law, who have big hearts to impact change. The team will be heading to Africa July 6-21, 2015 where we will spend two weeks providing support to these children and their school in Hamisi, Kenya in any capacity that is needed. I'm hoping that friends and family members would help support me and the amazing mission of this organization by donating to my GoFundMe campaign.
