Jerusha needs a lung transplant . . NOW.

"Jerusha, you need a lung transplant:Now."

This is the diagnoses of the doctors who have been treating Jerusha Daines for Pulmonary Hypertension Disease. Just over three years ago Jerusha became concerned about feeling fatigued all the time and then she started to have shortness of breath. The doctors confirmed that Jerusha has Pulmonary Hypertension which is a constriction of the arteries leading from the heart to the lungs. In short, she can't breathe because her lungs are diseased and she needs a lung transplant.

"It's really hard to breathe today."

These are the words Jerusha will text to her friends and family when they check up on her. She has to text because talking is just too hard when it's all she can do to keep breathing. Jerusha has struggled to breathe in life sustaining oxygen with the weight of fluid filling her lungs. Her lungs have been drained multiple times:up 1 QUART OF FLUID EACH TIME!

The sensation of drowning is very real to Jerusha.

Every breath is precious and every breath is a struggle.

So why wait three years for a lung transplant?

Jerusha had to wait to qualify for INSURANCE COVERAGE. The cost of the operation is astronomical.

So Jerusha has patiently waited:and suffered.

Now, she finally qualifies and it's almost too late. The insurance will help significantly but Jerusha still needs financial assistance to cover the cost of housing for her recovery and at the bare minimum, TWO MONTHS of 24/7 care.

As you sit reading this, take a deep breath and hold it for a moment.

     Now, breathe it out.

That felt refreshing and relaxing didn't it?

Will you please help Jerusha take a breath? Will you donate generously so Jerusha may be able to breathe freely again? Take another deep breath:

Fill your lungs with oxygenated air and feel grateful that you can breathe with healthy lungs.

     Please help Jerusha breathe again.

Teamwork of a Family

Jerusha and Paul, as a young couple, moved into their first home with their beautiful blond haired, blue eyed toddler who was at first shy, but it was soon to be discovered had a brilliant Colgate smile that has rarely left her pretty face. This family had plans for their future and Jerusha did her part to help with the finances while Paul went to school. She managed a large retail bookstore during the day while Paul worked nights and went to school to become an Audiologist. They arranged their schedules to share their parenting duties for their daughter, relying on grandparents to cover when necessary.
With this hectic schedule, Jerusha realize how important it was to stay connected as a family and she decided that they would share their family dinner together EVERY day. So at 5 pm, she would pack up a picnic and drive to Paul's work and they would eat together during his lunch break. They followed this routine for several years while Paul finished his schooling. In time, their much anticipated dream of becoming a full-fledged doctor became a reality and Paul set up shop. Jerusha became an elementary school librarian and their daughter who was still smiling became the consummate athlete who excelled in basketball and skiing. The dreams of this small family who worked and played together were finally coming true:until 3 years ago when Jerusha started to struggle to catch her breath.
The stress on this sweet family is incredible. Paul is trying to build his brand new practice and care for his terminally ill sweetheart, and their brave daughter, cooks the meals, cleans the house, shops and runs the household as best she can while maintaining her 4.0 grade average. She still wears her smile and it's only in her eyes you can see her deep worry and concern.

So will you please help Jerusha take a breath? Please donate generously for Jerusha to breathe freely again. Help her to live to see the fruition of her husband's practice and see her daughter graduate from high school and college and even live to see her future grandchildren.

Take a deep breath and please, donate for Jerusha.
