In support of furthering Jeremy's progress with the hemiparesis of his right arm and leg , and especially with speech and cognition, we made an album to share our family's musical healing journey to fund ongoing rehab programs and support Jeremy's daily needs.
Breath Deep, is the name of our family's first album together. You can access it at this link http://store.cdbaby.com/cd/jeremycohen1 where you can buy/stream the album, or individual songs. If you wish to donate further you may do so on this site.
We are raising funds specifically for a remarkable intensive Aphasia program in St. Petersburg, FL to help Jeremy regain speech and convey his thoughts. It costs nearly 5K/week. Recommended 6-8 week stay and returning for a 2-3 week program. Here is the program:https://www.theaphasiacenter.com/intensive-aphasia-treatment-programs/
Jeremy and I have been so grateful to receive a circle of support from friends and family the first few years. I've been thinking what might be best to help Jeremy with ADLs, fitness and general cognition, and discussed with Jeremy what might help his motivation daily. We need a point person with certain expertise, a personal trainier of sorts across all of his therapeautic areas of need. Jeremy wants to work. He has gone through the Bureau of Vocational Rehab twice in Columbus. They still consider him "pre-work" - we need to get the Pre out of that!
More on the Album--Jeremy recorded a few original songs (Breath deep a lullabye we still sing every night), and some covers of our favorite artists (Jack Johnson, Greg Brown, Phish). I remember sitting next to Jeremy while he played guitar when he recorded these songs. He said, "So our children will always have this." Thank goodness he did. I was 6months pregnant with our first child when Jeremy recorded only a few of the many songs he had memorized & played on acoustic guitar.
Music is so integral to keeping our spirits high and overcoming the tough moments of every day. We need constant mood changers, who doesn't with three kids, right? And then our life has its rough around the edges Knuffle bunny AGGLE FLAGGLE KLABBLE #*@*^#!! moments pretty constantly that make me a bit meshug . . .So we make music. Loud, and then soft. Breath Deep. This album will lull your children at night (at least it works with ours!), and is threaded with love, gratitude and hope. You will hear our children sing as well. Listening to my husband's beautiful music always moved me. The children and I, we want so to hear him play and sing in his deep melodic spiritual loving voice again.
Thank you so much for supporting us.
