Help Me Volunteer in Kenya!

Hi everyone! My name is Jennifer, I am nineteen years old, and I am studying at the University of Iowa to become an English teacher. I spent three weeks working in orphanages in Peru during the summer of 2012. This winter, I am going to be working in an orphanage for another three weeks, but in Kenya! I absolutely loved my time in Peru and cannot wait to see what is in store for me in Africa. Helping the children and employees in the orphanages was one of the greatest feelings in the world. It has instilled in me a passion to reach out and support these children in every way that I can.

Kenya needs volunteers now more than ever, especially after the tragic events of the shooting in Nairobi's Westgate Mall. This heartbreaking event has only strengthened my passion of volunteering in Kenya. I will be working directly with the children affected by it and I will be empowered to know that I helped them in their greatest time of need. Unfortunately, it is extremely difficult to afford traveling to Kenya on top of my schooling. Although International Volunteer Headquarters
makes the program as affordable as possible, I still can't cover all of the costs on my own.

The break down of major costs include:
Registration fee ($267)
Airfare ($1300 round-trip)
Program costs ($494)
Travel insurance($100)
In total the trip will cost over $3000!
