Jenny’s FIS (Friends In Support)
In alignment with one of our Guiding Principles, Encouraging – Giving Back, we have an opportunity to help one of our own. For those whom might not be aware, Jennifer (Jenny) Harrison was recently diagnosed with a very aggressive form of Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC), breast cancer. Due to her diagnosis, Jenny is already undergoing chemo therapy (a mere 4 days after the cancer was discovered). As you can imagine, due to her young age, and the immediate need for medical treatment these past few weeks have been a whirlwind for Jenny and her family.
However, Jenny being Jenny, is handling it better than most. Her attitude is good, she is still working and smiling all she can along the way. So, what can we do to help her? Undergoing treatment and then working all day doesn’t leave much energy for cooking, cleaning, laundry and other day-to-day duties. Thus, we have organized Jenny some help. We (Jaime Moreland, Annalise Phomvongsa, and myself) will be arranging weekly meals (around Jenny’s weekly chemo treatments) for her in addition to her family and assist with medical appointment transportation. Also, any supplementary funds raised will go directly to Jenny to assist her with the many co-payments and medical deductibles that will result from her treatments.
