Jennifer Logan's Memorial Fund

From the time I met Jenn in 7th grade, she was the type of person who lived life to the fullest. She was fearless, smart, funny, and adventurous. I remember being so intimidated by her at first! She had no problem telling you exactly what she thought! By the next year we had become best friends and I was so glad to have her in my corner! She protected her friends fiercely and didn't give a damn what anybody thought. She had a commanding personality and you were either in or you were out. And so many people were in. After high school she went off to IUP. While she didn't stay for an education, she did manage to get on Sally Jessy Rafael while she was there. Secret crushes revealed! So scandalous. It was hilarious and we never let her forget it. Back in Reading, we moved in together the first time. The memories there are too many to count. We were so young and had no idea how to pay rent so it didn't last long. A year or so later, we made another go and this time we both had jobs at the same company and made it work. She was in the delivery room when my daughter was born and cut the umbilical cord. I moved back home when my daughter was a month old, and she found love and moved in with Manny. 3 years later she gave birth to her first and only son, Manny Jr. To say this boy was the light of her life would be an understatement. He was her reason for being. She made her life revolve around him as any good mother does. She was head over heels for him. Then, 3 years ago, Jenn became ill. Doctors failed her repeatedly with a diagnosis and before long she was in complete liver failure and needed a transplant. At the last possible moment, her liver came through, via a little boy who perished in a house fire in Ohio. She received her transplant on Valentine's Day 2013 and quickly resumed her role as doting mother to little Manny, even when she was feeling badly. She was now a single mom doing the best she could with very little support from her family. There wasn't a day that went by that she didn't pray for the family of the little boy who gave her a second chance to live. She saw him in her own boy and vowed to live a life that would make them both proud. She wanted only the best for Manny, and desperately wanted him to have the best education he could. She tried so hard to get him into Lancaster Country Day School but couldn't afford it on disability. Manny had to test into the school, and he aced his tests as she knew he would...but the grant fell through and she was devastated that he couldn't go. She truly felt she failed him as a parent. Unfortunately on Sunday August 3, Jenn didn't wake up. At 10am, little Manny went to check on her and found his beloved mommy dead in her bed, a sight no little boy should ever have to endure. As he was her world, she was his. The paramedics were called but it was too late. Jenn was gone. Jenn wanted a memorial service before her cremation. She even had her songs picked out. Unfortunately her wishes are not being honored but we are going to give her a party anyway. Her body will not be there but her soul will, of this I am certain. We are also trying everything we can to get Manny into LCDS. This was, in effect, Jenn's dying wish. This fund will be for her memorial service, yes. Everything over and above what we absolutely need to make this happen will go into either a tuition account for Manny to attend LCDS, or if that is not possible, a trust fund for him. Please find it in your heart for this boy to send a few dollars into this fund. He has not had an easy life and yet he is the sweetest, smartest, most gentle soul you could find in an 11 year old. Jenn was infinitely proud of him and he deserves a chance to succeed despite the hand he's been dealt. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. We love you Jeni. Forever in our hearts.
