Jeff Swan's Stroke & Recovery

Jeff's Story- On April 18th 2016 Jeff suffered a major stroke and was found unresponsive by his wife Carrie at home.  He was rushed to Del Webb hospital and was immediately given the needed treatment to help minimize the damage of the stroke. The doctors worked hard to find what caused a young, 40 yr old to suffer such a major stroke with no previous warning signs. 
After several tests his doctors discovered that Jeff has a congenital heart defect that had been there since birth and is undetectable until something like this occurs. 
He was found to have PFO which is sometimes referred to as a "hole in heart" but is actually a flap in the heart which failed to fuse together at birth and can cause a blood clot to form. 

Jeff spent the week in ICU and has been showing signs of improvement everyday. He was recently moved to the neuro ward where he will continue to recover and will start his long journey of rehabilitation.  

Jeff is a loving husband to Carrie and amazing, supportive Dad to his son Collin (17) and daughter Bella (13).  Their world has been turned upside down so we're creating this site to help raise money and support for their family.  With Jeff's long road to recovery we hope this will help ease some of the finanical stress of  his medical & rehabilition expenses as well as the families loss of income.  Carrie has taken a leave from work to help Jeff during his initial recovery and then will return to work to be the main source of income for the family while Jeff continues his rehabiliation at the hospital for an unknown and extended period of time. 

While the road to recovery will be a long and a trying one for Jeff,  he is young, strong and a fighter. We know his love for his family will be his greatest motivator.  He also has a stong support group of family and friends who are all praying for and confident that he will make a full recovery.
 
Carrie, Collin, Bella and the family appreciate all of the love and support their friends and family have already shown.  Please keep Jeff in your thoughts and prayers through the coming months. We have also set up a CaringBridge site that will help to keep everyone updated on his reovery. 

The "Go Fund Me Campaign" has been started to aid in some of the financial stress associated with Jeff's long road to recovery.   Please feel free to post encouraging messages to Jeff on the Go Fund Me Campaign and Facebook  as these words of encouragement will help him and the family to get through the tough times.
