<div>Im August 2019 bin ich gemeinsam mit meinen beiden Kindern das erste Stück unseres Jakobswegs gegangen. Gestartet sind wir direkt vor unserer Haustür, in der Nähe von Augsburg. Nach rund 300 Kilometern holte uns mein Mann vom Bodensee ab und wir fuhren gemeinsam nach Hause.

<div>Damals ahnten wir nicht, wie sehr sich unser Leben nur wenige Wochen später verändern würde.
</div>

</div>
<div>Zwei Wochen nach unserer Rückkehr verstarb mein Mann und Papa meiner beiden Kinder. Dass unsere Abholung am Bodensee eines unserer letzten gemeinsamen Erlebnisse sein würde, konnten wir damals nicht wissen.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Seitdem gehen wir weiter – Schritt für Schritt.
</div>

<div>Zusammen mit meinen Kindern pilgere ich nun jeden August ein Stück weiter Richtung Santiago de Compostela. Was damals mit einem Doppelkinderwagen begann, ist über die Jahre zu unserer ganz persönlichen Seelenreise geworden. Heute tragen meine Kinder ihre eigenen Rucksäcke und sind oft die treibende Kraft. Sie erinnern mich immer wieder daran, weiterzugehen – Schritt für Schritt.

<div>Seit 2020 begleitet uns auf jeder Etappe ein Stein für ihren Papa. Er reist symbolisch mit uns – über Berge, durch Dörfer und über unzählige Kilometer. So ist er auf eine besondere Weise immer an unserer Seite.

<div>Genauso begleitet uns jedes Jahr ein zweiter Stein – für Lacrima. Lacrima hat meinen Kindern gezeigt, dass sie mit ihrer Trauer nicht allein sind. Dort treffen sie andere Kinder, die ebenfalls einen nahestehenden Menschen verloren haben. Es ist ein Ort, an dem Erinnerungen ihren Platz haben, Tränen sein dürfen, gelacht werden kann und niemand seine Trauer erklären muss.

<div>Am Ende jeder Jahresetappe legen wir den Lacrima-Stein am Etappenziel ab – als Zeichen unserer Dankbarkeit für all das, was Lacrima den Kindern und mir geschenkt hat.

<div>In diesem August möchten wir unser großes Ziel erreichen: Am Todestag ihres Papas wollen wir an der Kathedrale von Santiago de Compostela ankommen. Für uns schließt sich damit ein Kreis, der vor sieben Jahren begonnen hat – voller Trauer, Erinnerungen, Mut, Hoffnung und Liebe.

<div>Mit den letzten Kilometern unserer Reise möchten wir etwas zurückgeben.
</div>

</div>
<div>Deshalb verbinden wir unsere Ankunft mit einer Spendenaktion für Lacrima. Wir möchten dazu beitragen, dass noch viele weitere Kinder und Jugendliche erfahren dürfen, dass sie mit ihrer Trauer nicht allein sind und einen Ort finden, an dem sie verstanden werden.

<div>Every Step Counts – On the Camino de Santiago for Lacrima and Our Journey of the Soul

<div>In August 2019, I set out with my two children to walk the first leg of our Camino de Santiago. We started right on our doorstep, near Augsburg. My husband couldn't join the pilgrimage at the time due to work. After covering about 300 kilometers, he met us at Lake Constance, and we drove home together.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Back then, we had no idea how drastically our lives would change just a few weeks later.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Two weeks after we returned, my husband—my children’s father—passed away. We couldn't have known at the time that him picking us up at Lake Constance would be one of the last experiences we shared.
</div>

</div>
<div>Since then, we have kept moving forward—step by step.
</div>

</div>
<div>Since 2020, my children and I have made a pilgrimage a little further toward Santiago de Compostela every August. What began with a double stroller has evolved over the years into a deeply personal journey of the soul. Today, my children carry their own backpacks and are often the driving force. They constantly remind me to keep going—step by step.

<div>Since 2020, a stone dedicated to their dad has accompanied us on every stage of the journey. He travels with us symbolically—over mountains, through villages, and across countless kilometers. In this special way, he is always by our side.
</div>

</div>
<div>A second stone accompanies us every year, too—one for Lacrima. Lacrima has shown my children that they are not alone in their grief. There, they meet other children and young people who have also lost a loved one. It is a place where memories have a home, where tears are allowed to flow, where laughter is shared, and where no one has to explain their grief.

<div>At the end of each year’s leg, we leave the Lacrima stone at our destination—a token of our gratitude for everything Lacrima has given my children.
</div>

<div>This August, we hope to reach the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.  The fact that we will arrive there on the anniversary of her dad’s passing makes this moment special for us. After seven years, things are coming full circle—a journey filled with grief, memories, courage, hope, and love.
</div>

<div>We want to give something back as we cover the final kilometers of our journey.
</div>

</div>
<div>That is why we are combining our arrival with a fundraising campaign for Lacrima. We want to help ensure that many more children and young people discover they are not alone in their grief and find a place where they are truly understood.
