Jasper Malone - Musician Funding

Donation protected
Jasper Malone is a community supporter on a life long musical endeavor with the interest of meeting kind souls.

------------------------------------------------------------------
There's a bit of story to tell before I explain why I need this funding:

I'd like you to read this but If you know my story, and just want to find out what the fundings for skip down to the bottom.
------------------------------------------------------------------
For 10 years I have dedicated my life to music, when I wore a younger man's clothes you would of found me at my local music venue finding any reason to storm the stage. Any tech issues, any stage lugging needed, I was there. 17 years old and I just wanted to help, I wanted to be involved.

The local open mics would welcome me in to sing and perform and I cut my teeth by entertaining the people of Worcester in local bars, coffee shops and even bed room parties. I studied music tech at the local collage in which I met lifelong friends in music. I started projects, bands and even helped put on my own events. It was the foundation of inspiration for Jasper Malone.

Such an amazing musical city... I left for bigger endeavors.

At 21 I moved to a town. The town of Belper. A sunny little country resort north of Derby city. My goal was simple. Be a Musician. To survive playing music.

I did my first Belper show in a tiny little country pub. It was dead, Nobody for miles around. It was envident that I needed to build a fanbase, rebuild what I had in Worcester. The only way I knew how, by performing at open mics. For 6 months I dedicated my time to locating any open mics. There was one local. The kings head. Once a month, It seemed there wasn't much of a scene here. Such a drastic change after coming from a vibrant musical city where there was live music everynight!

I panicked and my dream quickly became unrealistic. I got a job as a barman at the same local pub that I did my first Belper show at. This was it. This was my life now...
Though, I've never really been one to quit... One night I took my ukulele in to the pub I was working at. Started plucking away as the local bell ringers supped away on their half pints. They were the only ones that came in on a Wednesday, So I'd sit there, at the bar, strumming the only chords I knew on a Uke, singing what ever came to mind. They seemed to enjoy it.

Word traveled fast and before I knew it, I was the all singing all serving barman. After a few weeks of endless drinking, late nights and getting to know the locals, the gaff of the joint asked me to move to the stage area as I wasn't serving at all. I was performing.

He payed me £20 every Wednesday to get up on the stage and entertain the punters. It wasn't long before I could afford my own microphone.
I started saving my £20's and before I knew it I had three microphones, mic stands and another guitar. I started welcoming the people on stage with me and Jasper's Jam Nights were born.

During this time, I started a band ; Jasper in the Company of Others

www.facebook.com/jasperinthecompanyofothers

All my original songs performed band, Because of the amazing support we/I had in Belper we signed with the local music label, Sound-hub Records, I recorded my first album thanks to this amazing Jam community and before I knew it I was touring around the Country.
Even with me touring, even internationally, Jasper's jam Night still continued. I was determined to make this town a place a musician could live I'd come back everyweek to set up the stage and host the night.

By this time, Local youth charity called The Drop Inn got involved and donated to me a bass guitar and Cajon. I was pretty set, I couldn't believe it, at the age of 23 I created my own Job in music by doing what I loved and what I had learnt.

My dream had returned, but with new meaning;
Bring people together with Live Music.

That was the aim.

After a few months the night was incredible. People would travel from all over, the outskirts of town, from the town next door, even from the city nearby. There were musicians here! They just needed something to come out for..

Before I knew it Belper was thriving in music. Nights starting everywhere. Gigs popping up all over the place. Not just one or two bars... But every bar, most days of the week.

At 24 I started a business with a good friend, node56ltd, I aim was to inspire and create. We started working in schools along side The Drop inn Youth Charity. We'd deliver sound workshops, jam workshops, radio workshops and anything to do with a musical background. We'd encourage youth to believe in music, believe in community and in creating events for other people. After all the dream is to bring people together with live music and we did and still do just that!

We started getting invited to festivals, where we would organise all the entertainment and stage. From engineering to being booking agents. We did everything. Still today we're smashing out events, bringing people together and encourage the youngers to do the same! We are now the community.

Node56 has helped create Jobs for young sound egineers and musicians. In our town, it's considered a real Job. I feel proud to be part of that motion.

Check our website out here. www.node56.com

At 25 I was invited to come work at The Drop Inn youth centre with 'High Risk Students'. I didn't really know what that meant. I quickly learnt that I was teaching music to teenagers that had been kicked out of school. I was picking up the pieces that society had given up on.
A new meaning for music had reached me, I use it as a medium to not only communicate with these young people but to help them release stress so they could focus on their education.

After all, It's hard to learn maths after mum and dad had been doing drugs and fighting all night.

A lot of these young folks came from a back ground hard to describe but I knew one thing - Music was helping them forget that.

Music became their medicine.

At 27 I sit here now, with a musical little town outside. I sit with a band that has stood by me for almost 5 years, I sit with two organizations that 100% believe that youth are the future and stick by inspiring them and encouraging them...

I've been sat for too long though... It's time to move on.
