Jason's Journey

Donation protected
Jason's Cancer story isn't new, it has been his way of life for the past 7 1/2 years.  At the age of 40,Jason was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer on February 20, 2010.  He had surgery, which led to remission for 6 months.  Unfortuneately, his cancer had traveled to his lungs.  For the past 7 years, to keep the Colorectal Cancer located in his lungs under control, Jason has undergone 8 hours of Chemotherapy every other Friday!  Even when he was told he was cancer free the Doctors insisted they continue with the Chemotherapy because they didn't feel comfortable that it wouldn't come back.  The amazing part of his story is he has rarely taking extra days off from work while going through his treatment.  Jason has dealt with the Chemotherapy and sickness it caused every other week while still working at least 45 hours a week!

If that isn't enough for one person to deal with, at the age of 47 Jason's life changed again.  In May he got Pancreatitis and the Doctors thought he had a stroke.  At closer examination, they discovered he has a tumor on his Brain and on his Spine!  Currently, Jason is on Leave of Absence from work.  He is on 24/7 oxygen, in a lot of pain, and struggling to keep up with conversations.

Who is Jason Pierce?  When you meet Jason, you may hear a word or two, or maybe not.  He is quiet and reserved, until you get to know him a bit.  Underneath the quiet exterior, Jason is a quick wit with a great sense of humor.  He loves Baseball, especially the Cubs and any team that his son, Ethan, is playing for.  He also enjoys fishing and sitting around a bonfire with friends with a beer in hand, of course!

Jason has been a Store Manager for CVS in Illinois for the past 14 years.  He won the Paragon award for 2016, which recognizes the top Store Managers in each District of CVS Health.  His District Manager discribes him as "committed, dedicated, hardworking, a teamplayer, and takes pride in his store.  He connects with his customers and colleagues."  Working faithfully for the past 7 1/2 years while having chemotherapy every other Friday shows the incredible strength he has.  Jason's strength is 2nd to none!

Jason's favorites?  Nora, his beautiful bride of 8 years and Ethan, his 15 year old son.  Jason met Nora the day before he started his new job at CVS, 14 years ago!  They were married June 6, 2009.  To complete their family, Jason adopted Nora's son Ethan in July of 2010.

For almost the entire time they have been married, Nora has taken the lead in Jason's care.  She was working full time and going to school to become a nurse until Jason was diagnosed.  The doctor's appt and treatments became too great to manage so she dropped to part time work and dropped out of school.  Nora has since returned to school to become a Medical Assistant, targeted date for graduation is January 2018!

Ethan is now almost 15 years old.  He loves playing baseball and is looking forward to playing football in high school.

Jason and Nora have NEVER asked for help from anyone.  They have lived with this reality for about 7 1/2 years, enjoying every moment they have together.  Now is the time to join together to help take some of the burden off of their shoulders.  Jason is the breadwinner as well as the insurance carrier. Nora is taking steps to secure a future for her and Ethan, but they will need help!

Please say a prayer for this amazingly strong family and give what you can, ANY amount will help!
