Gas Money, Groceries and Bills, Oh My!

I was very hesitant to set up a page like this, but several people have encouraged me to do so. Neither of us like asking people for money. Mom worked long after she was well enough to truly do so, and she says it's the thing she misses the most. I would love to have a steady paycheck, but I feel very strongly that we need this time together. Just about all of our bills are at least one month behind. The mortgage, car payment, insurance, utilities, cable/Internet...it's getting so overwhelming. Especially with the health issues we're dealing with now.
Mom has been battling lung cancer (along with fibrolyalgia, neuropathy, diabetes...) for three years now. Despite fighting it off all this time, it has now spread to her ribs, causing her additional tissue, nerve and bone pain. The doctors have told us that additional chemo would only cause her body more harm, so she has been moved to home hospice care. We're both very glad that we can get this kind of care and allow her to still be at home. The hospice staff is currently working to manage her pain, and she's already feeling much better than she was in the hospital.
To those of you who are able to help in this way: Mom and I are genuinely humbled by your generosity. We're both used to being the ones who are helping others. In fact, it makes us much more comfortable to be on the giving end than the receiving. But, as I've been told many times in the past week: let the people who want to help give you the help you need. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
