This is really sad. Jasmine is a friend of mine who is in India currently. Just found out she has cancer. Would appreciate your help or your friends who want to contribute to this cause. Whatever you can do to help will go a long way. Please read below.

A Personal Note from Jasmine (April, 2014)
Hi,
I was recently diagnosed with cancer, and underwent a surgery - radical mastectomy - at Hinduja Hospital on 13th April under Dr. Sultan Pradhan.
It was incredible how the cancer went undetected in spite of regular yearly check ups. The surgery went well and the Histopathology reports indicate grade 3 carcinoma. Chemo and radiation treatments have been advised and a 12 month treatment schedule has been drawn up.

Dr.Pradhan and his team have been a great help and they say the prognosis looks good. My first chemo session is on 17th May.
The surgery and treatment costs are considerable and my insurance has covered a part of it. As you are probably aware, my income supports my household. Over the years my mother's healthcare needs have been a serious concern as well. So I don't have savings to dip into at a time like this.
The approximate planned treatment cost at the hospital is INR 16 lakhs and projected peripheral expenses would take it to approximately 25 lakhs.
The chunk of the cost is for Trastuzumab - here is the doctor's note on it: Drug and Cost
I have contacted several Trusts/ Charities for financial help, but have been advised to look for private donors as most Trusts help only the very poor.
I have also registered myself with Tata Hospital for free charity treatment. The wait is long there, and I wouldn't have got started in time. I am still hopeful to get appointments there in a way that there is continuity in the schedule that my doctors have worked out for me - which will go on until July, 2015: Plan and Schedule
I am writing this letter seeking your support. Please know that I am sending this mail out - sharing with you, and am open to whatever comes from wherever...
We are looking for:
~ Individual donors
~ Trusts that would find my case eligible for funding support
~ CSR initiatives that may find my case eligible for funding support
~ Drugs at a reduced cost
I would have liked to talk to you or meet you, but at this time I need the space to recouperate and focus my energy on the healing process. Some of my friends have offered their time from their family and work responsibilities to take calls, emails, co-ordinate etc..
