Ja'Quan Joseph Comminie is the son of Jamaal Sr. and Ranada Comminie of Edgard, Louisiana who now reside in Houston, Texas. Ja'Quan have one brother, 11 year old Jamaal Comminie Jr. Ja'Quan was born September 7, 2017 at OakBend Medical Center weighing 8lbs 6oz. Shortly after birth he was having difficulty breathing and wasn’t getting enough oxygen. Ja’Quan was air lifted to Houston Methodist Hospital. Ja’Quan was put in NICU due to being in critical condition. Ja’Quan was later diagnosed with Hypoplastic left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). Hypoplastic left Heart Syndrome is a birth defect that affects normal blood flow through the heart. The left side of the heart does not form correctly during pregnancy. Hypoplastic left Heart Syndrome is one type of congenital heart defect. On September 11, 2017 four days after birth Ja’Quan undergo his first open heart surgery. He’s currently in NICU and recovering. He still has a long road ahead of him. Ja’Quan is scheduled to have another surgery when he’s 5-month-old and hopefully the last surgery between the age 2-3 years old. Ja’Quan will have extensive doctor appointment and treatment.
