Jan Nichols' Medical Expenses

My name is Matt Nichols and I am setting up this account to help my Dad, Bill Nichols with the medical charges he is receiving for the care and treatment of my mom, Jan Nichols. 

While on a vacation to Canada, my mother had an aortic aneurysm.  She was rushed to a hospital in Nova Scotia where they performed emergency surgery.  She remained in Nova Scotia under the care of the hospital and staff for roughly 1 week.  Because she was out of the country, Medicare would not cover her medical expenses.  My dad was forced to have her airlifted back to San Antonio to obtain coverage from Medicare.

Since coming to San Antonio, she has incurred over 7 more surgeries to repair her colon, flush her stomach and various other procedures that were a direct result of the aneurysm.  She has now been in the hospital for 9 weeks and will remain in the care of trained professionals through February 2015.  She will require another surgery within the year to repair a fistula she developed in her small intestine. 

10% of people with her condition make it to the operating table and only 50% make it a week beyond surgery.  She continues to fight and is slowly getting better by the day, regardless of the setbacks we have experienced along the way.  We are asking for any kind of donations to help offset the charges in Nova Scotia, the flight home and some of the charges from the hospitals and recovery centers here in San Antonio.
