If you are reading this, then my beautiful friend Janine Sindrey has touched your life in some way. I have never met a more creative, powerful and loving spirit as Janine. She wields incredible powers of perception and intuition, with integrity and compassion, gently drawing out our truths so that we might heal. She is a true artist. With this also comes a childlike playfulness, recognized and adored by people of all ages. She is quick to laugh and possesses a creative mischievousness.
Jan is the bravest person that I have ever known, standing up for justice in the face of opposition, unafraid to stand independently of commonly held truths if that i what is required. Jan has rarely asked me for anything in the twenty five years that I have known her. Today, on Jan’s behalf, I am asking you to read Jan's words below and donate to her campaign to give her the peace of mind to take a break from work to heal.

Since you are visiting this page you will have heard that I am soon to have surgery for a large tumour on my ovary. There are indications from the MRI that it is possibly cancerous so I have been referred to the Princess Margaret Gyne Clinic. (If you want more detailed medical info it’s below. I will update this section as things progress, but not everyone wants to read the gory details)
Unfortunately this health crisis is happening at a very difficult time for me. As many of you know I have been involved in a very lengthy and costly renovation. After two years of chaos, disruption and financial drain, dealing with corrupt and/or incompetent contractors, the project is still not complete. I am just a few weeks away from completion but I am financially drained. Now I’m coming into a period where being self-employed means no income coming in.
Many people have asked how they can help, and when I was honest with a few friends about what I truly need they suggested a fundraising page be set up. (there are a handful of people behind this effort so my thanks to them!) I was reluctant but they reminded me that people want me to be able to focus fully on my recovery. What I really need is for this renovation to be completed so I can have my house back in order before the surgery. I wouldn’t be surprised if this dang reno is the cause of this whole health mess!
And it’s a loving instinct, but I really don’t need flowers or food. My mother has that covered - I think she made me 6 soups in one day when she found out. So if you can help and want to help, then thank you.
I plan on this page being a community page - where I or friends and family can update as things progress. That way I don’t have to send out emails during my recovery but it’s also a place where people can leave comments and wishes, and I can read them at my leisure. Just know that your love and support has made me so incredibly grateful, and despite what’s going on I feel truly blessed.

For those who want to know surgery and treatment details:
I had my first consult today and I was thankful that they didn’t give me any new (read bad) news. In a nutshell I was told that we will all know what we are dealing with after the surgery, when they will have a chance to biopsy and see what’s going on in there. A surgery date has not been scheduled but it is expected to happen sometime in March.
They are being aggressive because there are features in the MRI results that indicate the likelihood of malignancy - irregular edges and solid and cystic areas are some. I will be having a hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (fallopiantubes and ovaries). The omental bursa, also called the lesser sac, or fat sac will also be removed. They will also do staging where they will test the tissues removed and if the tumour or sac appear cancerous they will begin to take lymph nodes out and biopsy (stage) as they go. The surgery is done robotically.
The surgery is extreme and I will be in hospital for 3 days and then will need 4-6 weeks recovery time. They biopsy during surgery but they also do a more thorough biopsy after surgery which takes about two weeks. If they find cancer then I will receive a treatment plan accordingly.
I have low C-125 markers. CA-125 is a marker for certain types of cancer, such as ovarian. The fact that my markers are low suggests that if is indeed cancer then it is likely not advanced. In 80% of advanced ovarian cancer c-125 markers are high.
