Janet's Wings #StopSuicide

Donation protected
After her long battle with depression, our family lost a daughter, mother, aunt, sister and friend on September 17, 2018 to suicide. We are all forever changed by this tragic event. Right now our family is grieving the loss of our beloved Janet “China” a beautiful, kind, compassionate young woman.  This fund is intended to be a tangible show of support for all of us, but especially for Alexia our niece and Janet’s only daughter. As we begin to navigate our grief as a family we are working on rebuilding the lives that will be forever changed. This loss is extremely unfortunate and unexpected, it’s made us realize how fragile life is and how easily something as tragic as this can happen at any time. Our beloved China left behind many unforgettable memories. Everyone knows she was always the life of a party. If you weren’t dancing, she’d make you and if you didn’t want to be on camera, you better hide because she always had her phone out to record and take pictures. Everyone knows it was always China and Alexia. Everywhere. All the time. Alexia attends Hill College on full ride scholarship to play soccer, and she plans to be a Physical Therapy Assistant. I pray that she continues this journey despite one of the hardest events a child ever has to face. We love her with all our hearts can give❤❤ In the days after a loved one has passed away, it is extremely difficult to find the strength to plan a funeral. We are currently needing the support to help raise $15,000.00 to assist Alexia with her mother’s memorial services and other expenses that may arise during this unfortunate time. We all know just how much of difference this kind of help can make in the healing process, be it for counseling, support services, or whatever Alexia may need. The rest of the funds that are raised will be donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. We don’t want any other families to have to go through this. Times like this are tough but we all must remember one thing: "Lives are like poems. Some are long, some are short, but they're all beautiful."  A life is lost to suicide every 12.8 minutes in the United States. Suicide is the third leading cause of death among fifteen to twenty-four year olds and the second leading cause of death among college students. However, most Americans remain unaware that suicide is a national health problem.  The impact suicide has on the lives of family members, friends, co-workers and the community is devastating.  The loss of human potential is enormous. Suicide and mental health are issues that are hard to deal with and aren’t talked about too often. That's why I have chosen to participate in the Out of the Darkness Walk, to raise awareness and let people know it is ok to talk about suicide and mental illness. I want to do my part to prevent this tragedy from happening in other families. I will commemorate my sister Janet’s life by participating in the Waco, TX - Out of the Darkness Walk on Sept 29, 2018, this event that raises money for suicide prevention research, education, survivor and awareness programs. I will be among hundreds of thousands of people walking in more than 300 cities across the country to send a message of hope to the world. If you worked with Janet, or knew Janet, please share a pleasant story, or comment below, and consider a donation, no matter how small to assist our family but most importantly Alexia in this time of dire need. ❤Thank you all for taking the time to read this and for your consideration to donate your donation means the world of difference to our family.❤
