Janet Caldwell is Gerry and Ian's mom......here is her story:
Janet worked as a chef at an independent living facility for last 20+ years cooking and caring for others. At the beginning of summer 2013 Janet was let go of her position. She was then hired at a new facility opening within the area and was so excited. Prior to starting this new job she needed a physical. Janet did just that and went on to orientation for the new job! Janet received a phone call 3 days prior the start of training for her new job that would change our lives.
For those that don't know, on August 26, 2013, Janet was diagnosed with breast cancer. This is not the first time the Caldwell family has been faced with the news that a family member has cancer. So, instead of feeling upset or depressed Janet took the diagnosis with grace.
The first set of chemo treatments had minimal side affects and have been tolerable. The treatments are now starting to affect Janet. There are days she is tired and some days she is extremley sick BUT since the start of this journey she has remained positive and upbeat and and WILL BEAT THIS!!!! She is half way through her treatment and then will take the next step of surgery.
Janet has always been that person you can go to for advice, who will listen, give you a reality check :), who will provide you a warm meal or just need a good laugh.Unfortunately, unemployment has run it's course. We would like to show our love and support and giving back for what she has provided to others. We do not want her to endure any unnecessary stress during her battle of "Kicking Cancer's A$$" We are setting up this fund so Janet can concentrate on fighting & healing. Our hope is to help her with the monthly living expenses during and after her chemo treatments and surgery.
