I am a family practice physician from New Mexico who travels to Kanginima Uganda, a small rural village 45 miles east of MBale Uganda, twice yearly to a small medical clinic.I travel with MercyTrips.org. We perform major surgery including thyroidectomies, Hernia surgery, C sections, Abdominal Surgery, Spleenectomies, with limited equipment but with the Will of the Lord. Our results are spectacular.
I perform Ultrasound diagnosis preoperatively for pathology confirmation, then scrub in to assist in treating pathology. The lab performs Hg and Hct and Aids testing. Cases are discovered by physical diagnosis preoperatively. These incredibly sweet and tender folks are predominately Christians with some Muslims, however we treat through Christian Kindness all religions.In a mixed Christian/Muslim village I once asked the village leader the question, " How do you all get along so well?" The answer was," Oh, we just marry each others wives and it becomes family."
We minister the Gospel of Christianity and Faith, as well as the Gospel of Good Medicine, prevention, and urgent surgical care as needed.
