My daughter Jamie has been diagnosed with CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome). It isn't something that she will ever get rid of. She has to take nerve medication and muscle relaxers twice a day, every day. It is in her hips, she can no longer drive a car, I have to take her to all her doctor's appointments. She is trying to work two jobs, writing books and selling Scentsy because she can no longer stand for long periods of time or walk very far. She gets pain killers, but they only help so much. Most days, she has a limp and it will be permenant.
Unfortunately, the problem flared up in June and they didn't diagnose her until October. She has four months of ER visits, urgent care visits and multiple appointments with her pain management doctor that she needs to pay. Unfortunately, her medication, even with insurance is over $300 a month. Putting out that much for her medications means she hasn't been able to pay her doctors and she has fallen behind on some of her other bills because her insurance premiums went up significantly after the diagnosis.
She is trying to get partial disability, but that takes a long time and until then, she will have to continue to pay for her outrageous medications. CRPS if not treated attacks organs and can be fatal. Sadly, it appears she has had it for many years without treatment. She now also needs glasses, but can't afford the copay to see the opthemologist or the copay on glasses.
I am trying to raise money to help her pay her medical bills as well as be able to afford her medications - Pfizer won't help because she made too much money last year, but since she has been adjusting to nerve medication and living with chronic pain and has trouble seeing a computer screen, it is very hard for her to write and make money, so she will only make a fraction of what she made last year.
