HELP JAMES AND JOE GO TO KENYA

Donation protected
Dear Friends of Pogo Park,

Exciting news!  On March 23, Pogo Park’s James Anderson and Joe Griffin will travel to Nairobi, Kenya to participate in a weeklong “Global Learning Exchange” organized by UC Berkeley.

The Global Learning Exchange brings together community-driven organizations like Pogo Park from around the world. The goal is for people to learn from each other about  building healthy and just communities in some of the world’s toughest conditions.  Click here to watch a video of the Global Exchange program.

In November of 2017, representatives from Global Exchange’s network in Kenya, South Africa, and India visited Pogo Park.  They came to learn how community residents from Richmond’s Iron Triangle neighborhood reclaimed a city park and transformed it into a safe, beautiful, and vibrant public space for children to play and the community to gather.

Now Global Exchange colleagues from Kenya have invited a contingent from Richmond to visit them in Nairobi!  The participants include Richmond city staff, James and Joe from Pogo Park, and Richmond's RYSE Center.

Much of James and Joe’s trip is all paid for: the Robert Wood Johnson and Pogo Park paid for the cost of air fare, hotels, meals, and transportation.

But it doesn’t pay for everything! And here is where you can support this amazing global opportunity.

We need to raise $1,500 to pay for the unfunded expenses that include gifts for our hosts, fees for tour guides, and miscellaneous out-of-pocket expenses.

This is a trip of a lifetime for James and Joe.  They will bring back many lessons from their journey that will enrich Pogo Park’s daily practice and strengthen an international network of people who are creating change where it is most needed.

Please contribute whatever you can…no matter how small. If everyone gives a little bit, we can get James and Joe to Africa in style. Any donations collected beyond our goal amount will go to Pogo Park to help cover the cost of airfare.

THANK YOU!
