My name is Jahiem Peake, and I am a sophomore at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School (STVM). Recently, I was nominated to represent my school and community at the National Youth Leadership Forum: Advanced Medicine & Health Care, to be held next summer in Boston, Massachusetts. This forum provides an opportunity for high school students to develop leadership skills in addition to exploring a variety of specialized medical fields through a hands-on interactive curriculum, small group activities, and true-to-life medical workshops. Along with being able to network with other motivated students from around the country, I will be eligible for college credit at George Mason University after completing the program. Also, being involved in the Future Medics program at STVM has fueled my interest in this field and will do all that I can to realize my career goal of becoming an emergency room doctor. Attending this forum is the first step in this plan.
The cost of NYLF program is $3,845 program tuition, including lectures, simulations, and materials, as well as meals and lodging for the 10-day program. My goal is also to earn $900 for travel to and from the program so my total goal is $4,745. I am investing every dollar of my own money to make sure I don’t miss out on this unique experience, including the money I earn by working extra jobs. Plus, with donations from my family, friends, and neighbors, I have already raised $1,000 to offset the cost. Imagine if you had been given this opportunity for a life-changing experience when you were in school and were unable to participate for lack of funds.That is why I am writing to you today. I am graciously asking for your monetary support in any amount you feel is appropriate in my efforts in becoming a young leader of purpose.
As you can see, this will be a powerful experience, enabling me to interact with respected professionals in various fields while building relationships with students who will be my future colleagues. My goal is to have all of my tuition paid no later than March 25th. Your support for my sponsorship request would be greatly appreciated.
