IVF: Our Last Resort (Chasing a Miracle)

After a lot of thought and consideration we have decided to share our story. Although it is a gamble, with the help of our family and friends, we are hoping to raise enough money to get the medical treatment that we need to finally have a baby. We only have one shot at this, so we are doing everything we can to make our dream come true. Faced with the brutal reality that we may never have a child on our own, we are at our last resort: IVF. It's a place no couple ever dreams of being.

A Little Bit About Us

On September 24th, 2010, Jeremiah and I were married. I had finally found my Prince Charming, and along with him, I gained a wonderful stepson, Parker. We felt blessed beyond measure. We were both working professionals in our thirties. I am a dental hygienist, and Jeremiah works for the Department of Homeland Security. Jeremiah and I were ready to expand our family, and I was ready to experience the joys of carrying a child of my own.

We knew there was a good chance we would have a hard time getting pregnant because in 2008 I was diagnosed with Polycyctic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). Not knowing what PCOS was, I truned to the internet and books looking for answers. My research was disheartening. There was a laundry list of complications associated with PCOS: Type 2 diabetes, hight blood pressure, sleep apnea, cancer, but the one that stuck out the most to me was INFERTILITY.

Knowing getting pregnant could be difficult, we did not waste any time. We began trying the "natural way, " but as months turned to years, we continuously mourned the loss of the thing we never had. It was, and still is a lot to handle, and is incredibly consuming.

Our Journey Through the Unknown World of Infertility...

We had tried "not preventing", "trying," "NOT trying," "relaxing," ovulationg kits, fertility drugs, and more ultrasound than I can count. There have been countless pokes for blood work, a surgery, Intrauterine Insemination treatments, and lots and lots of pregnancy test that always say the same thing, NOT PREGNANT. Through further testing, we found out that in addition to PCOS and hypothyroidism, I also have endometriosis, which causes scar tissue to develop on the uterine lining.

Impact

Time is of the essence, my eggs aren't getting any younger and despite the surgery, the scar tissue continues to form. We are mentally and emotionally beyond ready to start this process; but finances are holding us back. Although the outcome is uncertain, and the journey may be difficult, we are humbly inviting our friends, family, and those who feel led to support us, to be part of our "baby journey."

With everything in life, there are positives and negatives, but we wholeheartedly believe that the pros absolutely outweigh the cons. IVF may not work, however, if we never try, we will never know and we will forever wonder...."what if"

We have tried to prepare ourselves for the questions and comments that may come from putting our story out there for the world to read. With that said, we cannot do this without you. We are humbly asking for your help. With looking into the cost of IVF, we realize that we cannot afford it alone and our medical insurance does not cover the costs of treatment.

The entire procedure will cost us approximately $15,000-$18,000 between medications, lab work, testing, retrieval, etc. We have saved, and are prepared to contribute everything we can, so we are hoping to raise a minimum of $8,000.

We know for some of you reading this, our story may be a lot to swallow. Nevertheless, take heart that even though month after month our lives have been filled with defeat, we are not giving up! Through it all, we have and will remain hopeful, that someday we will have the family we've been dreaming of. We know that I am meant to be a Mom, and when that day comes, all of this will be worth it! With the help of an amazing group of doctors, the support of our awesome family and friends, and strength from God, we believe that we will have a baby together!

Other Ways You Can Help

Finances are just one part of this journey. There will be good days and bad days, stress free days, and days full of anxiety. We ask that you keep us in your prayers, support us, and check on us. Share this site with your friends who may feel led to donate or others you know who are struggling with infertility. We are hopeful that this campaign will make something priceless possible that would otherwise be impossible: LIFE!

Thank You

We will never be able to thank you enough for the support you are giving us. Please know that no donation is too small. Every dollar counts and is one step closer to helping us achieve this miracle. Words will never be able to express what your donations mean to us. More than anything, thank you for joining us on this journey! Thank you for being part of our lives! And Thank you for believing that our dream can become our reality!
