Living Water Trip to Honduras
Hey everyone, I hope all is well.
Normally, I would rather offer my assistance then request it, however, I
am humbling myself and asking for your help. I am exploring the idea of
going on a missions trip to Honduras from August 24-31 with my church
(Reunion Church in Boston) through the non-profit organization Living
Water. It is a great opportunity for me to journey to a poverty stricken
area and provide those in need with both secular and non-secular
services. The team I travel with will provide the villagers with clean
water (by drilling wells), teach hygiene, and encourage/aid the
villagers any other ways we can. This is my chance to help out those
less fortunate and keep my sanity while working in the ethically grey
area that is the legal profession.
The only obstacle standing in my
way of signing up for this trip is the costs. Unfortunately, Living
Water does not fund the trips, so that burden falls upon the shoulders
of the volunteers. The trip costs approximately $2,000. This poses a
problem for me because law students, by law, can only work so many hours
per week during the school year and despite working two jobs this
summer, only one is a paid position. After projecting my income from now
until the application deadline of May 18th (when the money is due) and
subtracting my projected costs of living, I will only be able to raise
$500 myself. Thus, $1,500 remains.
Therefore, I am asking for any
sort of contributions to help me fund this journey. DO NOT FEEL
OBLIGATED TO DONATE. Rather, I only ask that you give what you feel
compelled to give. Any little bit helps. For all of those that want to
do such mission work but cannot due to work, school, family, health,
etc., think of this as a way to help out and live vicariously through
me.
Thank you in advance. Every little bit is appreciated. I feel terrible asking but I cannot do this alone seeing as law school and Taxachusetts have my income in a vice grip.
