Isaiah's Save A Heart Fund

Donation protected
This fundraiser is dedicated to helping fund the medical bills for our son, Isaiah Davis.

On August 24th, 2014, our beautiful baby boy was born. My husband and I were so excited to be parents to this precious child.  After a few hours of bonding, a nurse came to the room and said Isaiah needed to go down to radiology for a chest xray. We anxiously awaited for our baby to return to the room, but he didn't. It was discovered that Isaiah had a heart defect known as dextrocardia, where his heart is positioned on the right side of his chest instead of the left side, like a normal heart. As they looked deeper into his images, it was also discovered that Isaiah was born with a congenital heart defect known as Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), which means his left ventricle was not fully developed. He was born with "half a heart" and would need open heart surgery to save his life. That same evening, Isaiah was transferred to Medical City Children's Hospital, and with me giving birth that same morning, I couldn't go with him. Needless to say one of the best days of our lives also was one of the worst.

Isaiah had his first open heart surgery, the Norwood procedure, at 9 days old. From that point Isaiah has had many ups and downs throughout his stay at the hospital, from issues with his heart rhythms, having a g-tube placed in his stomach for feedings, and having a tracheostomy to help him breathe after being intubated for many weeks following his first surgery. Each time Isaiah had a set back, he showed everyone how strong he was and kept fighting for his life.

Isaiah is almost 5 months old, and currently still hospitalized. Each time he gets closer to possibly being released from the cardiac ICU, he has a set back. His big issue right now is his leaky tricuspid valve. It has been causing some problems for him, almost to the point of us losing him. Our baby went into cardiac arrest this past Saturday, and after 20 minutes of CPR, he was resuscitated. We were told that Isaiah may need a heart transplant to save his life and that other options were very limited.

A ray of light shined from above and we were informed that there were two surgeons who believe they could repair Isaiah's tricuspid valve, even with his HLHS! It's his one shot for survival and we were overjoyed to have this option. We have to give our baby boy another chance to save his life.

We know that medical bills will be quite a burden on our family, but our son's life is worth it. We are only asking for donations from those who want to help. We thank you for taking the time to read our story. Blessings to you all.
