Isabella's Next Chapter

Donation protected
My daughter Isabella is an amazing, beautiful and strong 11 yrs old who was born with a congenital birth defect called Femoral Focal Hypoplasia Unusal Facies Syndrome. She was born with short bowed femurs and severe hip dysplasia in both hip and recently diagnosed with severe or progressive scoliosis.  We recently moved and I have had a very hard time finding a surgeon who would continue to help Isabella.  Every surgeon said that we needed to go back home to the doctor who knew her the best.  At the suggestion of her surgeon back home I took her to Nicklaus Children's Hospital in Miami and after 9 months of searching I finally found a surgeon who is willing to take her on as a patient. We met the new surgeon on June 7th, 2018 and he is pretty confident that he and his colleague can give her the proper care she needs. After performing his own xrays of her back, hips, spine and complete body he decided that the progression of her recently diagnosed (2017) scoliosis is a bigger issue.  His colleague who is the top scoliosis doctor at the hospital agreed to consult on the spot and scheduled her for surgery on July 20th, 2018.  This back surgery is something new for her and I am confident that she will do just as well as she always has.  After correcting her spine (which is about a 6 month recovery to be close to 100%) the Orthopaedic surgeon will begin constructing a plan to get her hips corrected (possible complete replacement) and then her femur (more lengthening). The hope is that with a straight back her hips will fall into place better when that surgery is done.  Isabella has began another new chapter in her life and its full of uncertainties.  She is still trying to heal from a broken femur that happened 2 years ago.  Chances are when the current plate and screws are removed that her femur will refracture in various places. Since we have moved I am now closer to the new doctors and no longer driving to Maryland.  Instead I have about a 5hr drive to the surgeon.  I have lowered the amount I am hoping to raise as the funds raised a few years ago have been used for her surgeries back them (travel ,medical, food and lodging).  These funds will be used for the same things: travel, medical expenses, food and lodging.  Any donations will be appreciated and please feel free to share this page and the Warrior Princess journey.  She has come a long way but has much further to go.  As always prayers, and good juju are always appreciated.
