Ben and Liz, Latvia 2014

We are Ben Foley and Liz Helfer, two emerging artists who have been selected to participate in an amazing sculpture opportunity in Latvia!

Last summer, we traveled to the Open-Air Art Museum in Pedvale, Latvia to discuss our sculpture installation proposed for 2014. Our proposal has undergone some radical changes; we love our new design: Lunar Etching. We hope you will love it as much as we do.
In 2014, we need to cover the costs of round trip flights to Latvia and food and lodging during the one month residency period. We would be devastated if our sculpture adventure stopped here! We hope you can help us reach our goal and fund our Iron.Stone dream!

A little history:

Every season, the Open Air Art Museum in Pedvale, Latvia hosts artists from around the world to create large-scale outdoor sculptures. In 2014, the sculpture symposium will focus on iron and stone. We were ecstatic to find out that we are one of the five artists or artist groups that have been invited to execute our proposal!

Our proposed sculpture is strongly rooted in Latvian history and will be created at the same time Riga, Latvia is the EU Capital of Culture. As American artists we hope to contribute a modern perspective on Latvia and highlight its rich heritage.
