IronMan - Kona, Hawaii 2013

Donation protected
After years of dedication and countless hours of training, my dream of qualifying for the IronMan in Kona, Hawaii has become a reality. I will be competing in the IronMan World Championship in my respective 35-39 age category.

On June 23, at the Coeur d'Alene IronMan, I finished 5th in my division, with a time of 9 hours 33 minutes, qualifying me for Kona. This is truly one of the most exciting times of my life, however the costs to compete in Kona are overwhelming.

Be a part of this amazing adventure with your support! I would be forever grateful in helping me compete at this amazing event.

Training and competing in events such as an IronMan, requires inspiration beyond what one personally can muster. Inspiration comes from something greater than yourself. Whether it be a triathlon, a marathon, or an ultramarathon.

My experience has been that the purpose behind the training and the event itself is what drives me. Every event that I compete in, I choose a cause as a driving force. The Coeur d'Alene IronMan was no exception as I competed in the name of my father who passed away in February, who truly was my biggest fan.

I will compete in the Kona IronMan with the same spirit of inspiration. After careful thought, I've decided the drive behind this event will be the American Heart Association. Any remaining funds above the cost of the Kona event will be donated to this amazing cause, in the name of my father, Ken Tyson.
