The Irene Gandy Documentary

Donation protected
Shaun Jackson and International award-
winning filmmaker, Onyx Keesha have joined
forces to bring to life this documentary about
Irene Gandy, a living legend.

This film will center around the life of Ms.
Gandy. As the first African American Woman
press agent and producer on Broadway, her
story should be shared with the world. This film
will not only focus on the past it will also give
the audience a glimpse into Irene's current day
to day life. Showing that being 73 years young
has not stopped or slowed Ms. Gandy, she is
still living out loud and unapologetically.

Depicting the relationships she’s built
throughout her life and career and featuring the
lessons she’s taught, the people she’s inspired
and the impact she’s had on the lives of so
many.

It is our goal is to show the world, more
specifically women of color that they can
change the world behind the scenes and
upfront.

This is her story, but it is one that all can learn
from. A day in the life of Irene Gandy will
inspire, empower, enlighten, and entertian.

Shaun Jackson and Onyx Keesha have
decided to embark on this journey and use it as
a learning tool for young women of color who
aspire to be filmmakers.

It is no secret that woman are grossly under
represented in the film industry, when we speak
of women of color those numbers are even
smaller.

During the scheduled 12 months of filming,
Onyx and Shaun will be joined by three student
interns who will gain hands on experience. In
addition to working on the film, students will
attend monthly filmmaking workshops, have
guest speakers, and a mentor that will help
them reach and identify their professional goals
in the industry.

Students will shadow the production team in
the role of Executive Producer, Director of
Photography, and Director. Each intern will gain
valuable experience.

For four days our crew along with our intern,
Danielle Tucker, followed Irene Gandy around
NYC. We caught up with Valerie Simpson, we
made Irene's favorite recipe at Monte's, we
visited Sardi's, the theater district, and captured
many amazing moments including Harlem
Week!

We quickly realized how impactful this film will
be. We are now seeking additional funding to
complete the project.

Our target goal is to raise an additional $70,000
to continue filming and continue our intern
program.

We are asking you to join us in showing the
world the beauty of this woman who is typical
behind the scenes, it is time for us to shine a
light on all she has accomplished and all she
continues to do.
