Ione & Wes Hill Caregiver Fund

Maryland residents, Ione and Wes Hill have been dealing with a tremendous caregiving burden that has placed a financial strain on their household. Ione had back surgery almost two years ago. Currently, she is still unable to walk and is mostly bedridden or in a wheelchair. Medicare, is only sending out a physical therapist every few months for a week or two at a time. In the meantime, Ione's 70 year old husband Wes is responsible for all of her care and he also has health issues of his own. Ione and Wes are both on fixed incomes and working with a limited budget. Neither of them expected that the recovery period for Ione would last nearly two years. The expenses associated with her care have been overwhelming for them.

I visited them last week for the first time since her surgery. I know that the Hills now need financial assistance. The home needs a sturdy wheelchair ramp (the picture is of the current ramp they have), their van needs a wheelchair lift, and Ione needs ongoing healthcare/physical therapy.
