In 2021, more than 30,000 Milwaukee individuals struggling with food insecurity visited one of our three IFP sites. They are the beneficiaries of your contributions and our commitment to provide nutritious food with a strong emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables.
Children represent 47% of those we serve, and we are committed to offering nutritious food which impact a young person’s health, growth, and ability to learn. IFP’s food program also helps adults and seniors focus their limited resources on other basic needs including rent, utilities, and medication.
We believe our guests deserve the very best. Many live in food deserts where needs are greatest, and there is limited access to fresh produce. This past year, IFP invested $40,000 in culturally sensitive and healthy produce including apples, bananas, oranges, pears, carrots, collard greens, cucumbers, green peppers, onions, russet and sweet potatoes, and tomatoes. Our fresh produce budget for 2022 is $63,000 as we anticipate higher food costs and an increase of guests served at our recently opened Quality of Life satellite food pantry in the city’s poorest zip code in partnership with St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church.
