To Recover and Bury Mothers Ashes

Donation protected
Today October 26th 2017 my grandmother Nancy McCroskey woke up to find my mother Mary Katherine Spaulding had passed in her sleep at the young age of 49 years old.  Mary, my mother, has been battling with sickness for some time now.  She was diagnosed with diabetes in 2008 and her health just continued to spiral down from there.

This year she was diagnosed with end stage kidney failure and has been in and out the hospital for weeks at time since the end of June. On top of battling with type 1 diabetes and kidney failure she was also in congestive heart failure. She also recently learned that she had a blood clot in her leg, and we believe this was the ultimate cause of her sudden death, breaking free and traveling to her lungs or heart. At the time of death she had a lot of fluid on her lungs and we imagine her heart just couldn't keep up.

She leaves behind her two children; her daughter, Sarah Reagan McCroskey, her son Cameron McCroskey, her mother Nancy McCroskey, her brother Paul McCroskey Jr. and her two grandchildren Harper and Malekhi.  We are all originally from South Carolina although we currently reside in Michigan.  My mother's final wishes were to be cremated and taken back to South Carolina to be buried with her Dad Paul L. McCroskey Sr.

Due to the nature of her diseases getting life insurance was nearly impossible for her. Although we understood how sick my mother was, this is all still unexpected and sudden. The total cost to respect these wishes would be 2000-2500, including recovering her ashes and the trip to bury them in S.C. My brother Cameron and I have applied to get help from the state, but they would only be able to give us $600 dollars on the total cost of cremation which is $1350.

Please, understand that we are doing all we can and any help received would be beyond appreciated.  Mary Spaulding was a good person. All her life she took care of people, from working at Greenville Memorial Hospital for 10+ years, to taking care of her Mother, and  it was hard to see her on the other side. In loving memory of a great mother, and caring daughter. You will be missed, Mom.
