Lukey's Story

To serve as a Memoriam for Baby Lucas Allen. To share the story of his short, yet meaningful 39 days of life. To provide support to Jason and Tracy Allen for Lucas' medical bills and the unexpected need to pay for burial services.  Jason & Tracy thank you for reading Lucas' story and for all your thoughts, prayers, love and support.

From the beginning, Lucas was a Gift from God. At 20 weeks into the pregnancy, Tracy & Jason found out they were having a beautiful baby boy, but also found out about their baby having a brain defect (later identified as the Dandy-Walker Syndrome) and abnormal kidneys. After being asked the question, "Do you want to keep this baby?" the answer was an undeniable YES!!! Lucas Sebastian Bulquerin Allen was born on October 20, 2011 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and headed straight to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. He was a miracle baby beating the odds given to him; he made it full term, was able to breathe on his own at birth and had functioning kidneys. There was no doubt he had medical issues of concern "“ he had Dandy-Walker Variant brain defect affecting motor skills, low muscle tone, a murmur and two holes in his heart, hearing loss, no sight in his left eye and was unable to feed by mouth. Despite all this, after 18 days in the NICU, Lucas was cleared to come home on November 7, 2011 with a feeding tube directly to his stomach. Mommy & Daddy LOVED caring for and spending time with Lukey and didn't want to trade it for the world. It was a mix of life at home with many visitors, many follow-up doctor appointments, therapy appointments, eye surgery, enjoying his first Pacquaio fight and the Thanksgiving Holiday at two family functions.

Unexpectedly on November 26th, Lucas stopped breathing and his heart stopped beating and was off to the Long Beach Memorial Emergency Room where they were able to get a pulse and place him into the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Miller Children's Hospital. On this day, Lucas was baptized and became God's Child. On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, November 27, 2011, Lucas, held in his mother's arms and surrounded by his loving family and friends, took his last breath returning home as Heaven's Newest Angel.
