I Am Representing the U.S. in Australia!

Hi, my name is Imani Hunter.  This year, I was accepted into the People-To-People Student Ambassador Program and I will be traveling to Australia in July to represent the United States. 

Back in 1956, the People-To-People program was started by Pres. Dwight D. Eisenhower, because he knew that regular people could help America build peaceful friendships with other countries.  Pres. Eisenhower believed that sending his youngest citizens to learn firsthand about other cultures would not only heal global relationships, but would also prepare them to be good citizens and good people.  

I am so excited to go.  I won't be alone; I'll be traveling with other students my age, led by experienced teachers.  Our 20-day journey will take us to historical sites and famous landmarks, and we will stay with host families, work on a ranch, tour the Sydney Opera House, serve communities in need, dance with an Aboriginal tribe (and throw spears and boomerangs), swim with dolphins, play cricket at a stadium, snorkel with Marine Biologists at the Great Barrier Reef, repel down a mountain cliff, and meet kangaroos, koalas, and crocodiles.  There's other stuff, too, but you get the picture.

It's going to be a "once-in-a-lifetime experience" representing all of you in Australia.  Plus, I'll get to build life skills, increase my understanding of the world, and become more competitive for college. I am building my future, but my mom and I need some help financially.  She is doing her best to pay my way, but I was hoping that you would be willing to help sponsor my trip?  Our due date for the full balance is May 1st.
