storm damage destroyed Ikamiro’s crops
Donation protected
In 2017, Ikamiro village in Uganda suffered a fatal landslide, losing 17 people, homes and animals. In order to prevent landslides happening again, the community dug deep trenches throughout the mountains and planted 60,000 trees. They were successful and no more landslides have happened since that time. However, they were unable to prevent the torrential storm that hit them this week. This has been catastrophic for the community as all their crops have been destroyed which means there is no food available for them and their businesses of selling food have gone as well.
