As-Salamu Alaikum,
At a recent function I attended I was taught that Ramadan is the “month of generosity”. Those who know me know that I often have lofty ideas; some good, some ok and some really out there. However, I am reminded of the merits of following through with good thoughts, deeds and sadaqah during this time.
“Whoever thinks of doing a good deed then does not do it, Allah(SWT) will write it down as one complete good deed. If he/she THINKS of doing a good deed and then DOES it, Allah(SWT) will write it down between ten and seven-hundred fold, or many more.” (Sahih Al-Jami)
During Ramadan we are; required to Fast, encouraged to do good deeds, strive to become better Muslims and most importantly work passionately to get closer to Allah(SWT).
With that being said, Sisters I need your help!
Insha Allah I would like for “Us” to sponsor Iftar each Friday during Ramadan for Masjid At-Tawheed in Port-au-Prince Haiti for the sake of Allah(SWT). I am constantly encouraged by the resolve of my fellow sister doing a similar, larger program locally. I am asking you to please join me in being “sisters in sadaqah” by making a donation to help fund the Friday Iftars for the entire month of Ramadan at the Masjid.
The prophet(PBUH) said:
“Whoever provides food for the fasting person to break their fast with, he will have the reward of the fasting person without decreasing the reward of the fasting person at all.” (Al –Tirmidhi)
I am hopeful that with the help of my beloved sisters near and far, we can raise the necessary goal for this special initiative. It costs $500 for each Friday. Our goal is to raise $2000.
The prophet (PBUH) said, "Whoever guides one to do a good thing will get the same reward as the person who performs the deed" (Sahih Al-Jami)
So if you are unable to help monetarily, please help spread the word. #RamadanHaiti #IftarHaiti
I have no doubt that collectively Insha Allah we can succeed at this.
Our brothers and sisters in Haiti love Allah resolutely and are committed to fasting during Ramadan despite the challenges.
Helping them break their fasts one day a week during the month would be a welcomed gift and I believe they would appreciate the compassion and thoughtfulness of their sisters in Islam. May Allah(SWT) reward us all.

About Masjid At-Taweed
This masjid is central to the community in Haiti. It housed, fed and cared for the homeless and injured citizens during the 2010 earthquake;does community da’wah projects regularly and has long standing affiliations with Life.org and HelpingHands.org which just recently sponsored a “Youth for Haiti” program there.
