<div><strong>For Desiree Mata-Hernandez’s family</strong>

<div>October 5, 2026, Desiree Mata-Hernandez passed away from breast cancer, leaving behind a heartbroken family who now has to face an unimaginable loss. This fundraiser is for Desiree’s husband, Fito Mata, and their two children, Maribel and Papo, as they grieve and try to take the next steps without her. Desi’s loved ones are asking for support on behalf of this family during a time that no one is ever truly prepared for. Along with the deep emotional pain of losing Desiree, Fito, Maribel, and Papo are also facing the heavy burden of medical bills and funeral arrangements.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The funds raised will help ease some of that financial pressure by covering medical expenses, funeral costs, and helping support the family as they navigate the difficult days ahead. Every donation, no matter the size, can make a meaningful difference for Fito, Maribel, and Papo right now. If you are able, please consider donating to help Desiree Hernandez’s family. If you cannot give at this time, sharing this fundraiser would also mean so much and help keep their family lifted up with love and support.

<div>Desiree is a dear friend whose strength, courage, and character are truly remarkable. She was supposed to speak at a fundraiser this Friday, and while she may not have the opportunity to share these words in person, her message deserves to be heard.
</div>

</div>
<div>No words can fully capture the strength she has shown through her journey. Her own words offer a glimpse into the incredible person she is, and they deserve to be read, shared, and remembered.

<div>My name is Desiree Mata. My husband, Fito, and I live in Shelton with our two beautiful children, Maribel and Mateo. I am currently battling Stage 3 breast cancer.

</div>
<div>One thing about me is that I'm a tough chick. However, my breast cancer journey has been one of the hardest and most personal battles of my life. From the moment I heard the words, "You have breast cancer," on December 29, 2025, through chemotherapy, radiation, and everything in between, I have discovered a strength I never knew I had. Every challenge has pushed me to fight harder than ever before.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This experience has taught me so much about hope, resilience, and the incredible people who show up when it matters most. Cancer has changed my life, but it will never define me. I will always be "Des."
</div>

</div>
<div>Every day, I thank God for the opportunity to hold my husband and my courageous children close, and to love and appreciate the family and friends who have stood by us through every step of this journey. My faith, my hope, and the unwavering support from everyone around me keep my heart full of positivity and perseverance. I truly believe that I will beat this.

</div>
<div>From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all of your love, prayers, and endless support. It has meant more to my family and me than words can ever express.
</div>

</div>
<div>We love you Desi.
