Help Me Get to Africa

Hello My name is Tate Harris and I was recently accepted into a cultural exchange program that will send me to Botswana.( https://www.ciee.org/go-abroad/high-school-study-abroad/summer/botswana/gaborone/botswanan-wildlife-conservation) Ever since I was a kid I've been fascinated with the African bush and its animals. I have always wanted to see --with my own eyes-- a Zebra and a rhino and all the rest. Before I even knew what a bucket list was going on safari was on mine. As a child I wasn’t the kind of kid that wanted to go to Disneyland, I wanted to travel the world and see all of the animals that live on this wonderfully diverse planet. I have chosen this program because Botswana is a beautiful place with a beautiful culture. Immersing myself in its culture will make me want to pinch myself. I want desperately to see the majestic animals of the African bush. But I can’t. My parents aren’t rich and are not able to send me. And to top that off my 18 year old brother is attending college next year. I believe that this opportunity to see the diminishing African bush is once in a lifetime. With this experience I might be able to figure out a way to prolong, if not prevent, the steps that are being taken to put these beautiful animals into extinction. My goal is for generations of kids like me, to get the opportunity to see Rhinos on animal planet, instead of History channel. This trip is extremely important to me. I applied for a scholarship from CIEE, and was awarded a half scholarship for 2,500 dollars. I still need to pay the rest of the tuition and for air fare. Please help me live out my dream.
