Corrina's Post Transplant LA Stay

Donation protected
Hi my name is Ardora McCalley.  The young lady in the picture is my daughter Corrina Carlock, who is a single mom with a 13 year old son Josiah.  Corrina has been battling a condition which the doctors and UC Davis Medical Center named Mixed Connective Tissue Disease.  This disease is a combination of Lupis, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Sclerodema.  This condition has had a significant effect on most of her major organs especially her heart.

On April 18, 2013, her heart stop, but by the grace of God she survived, with a diagnosis of congestive heart failure a defibrillator was placed in her heart.  Her heart did ok for one year but the condition of her heart began to worsen.  By March  2016, she was told that she would need a heart transplant.  Her doctors at UC Davis recommended that she go to Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills, Caifornia because that facility specializes in handling cases where the individual have other severe medical conditions.  After their evaluation Corrina was placed on the transplant list.  Although her condition was severe, she was listed as 1B, which means that she could wait for a heart at home.  Home is in Sacramento, California, which is almost 400 miles from Beverly Hills.

For the past year we have flown back and forth to Beverly Hills for Doctor's appointments and tests.   In February of this year, she started getting multiple shocks from her defibrillator because her heart was now weaker.  On May 16th,  we went to Cedars for several tests to see just how bad of condition her heart was in.  Because of her hearts condition her status on the transplant list was changed to 1A and she was hospitalized that same day.  Status 1A meant that she was severe enough to have to wait on a heart in the hospital.  On June 16th, a heart came to the hospital that was a match for Corrina.  She underwent surgery on the 17th, and has been in ICU because of issues coming up from her mixed connective tissue disease.  They have them under control, but when she is released from the hospital we will have to stay in the Beverly Hills are for at least three months, while still maintaining our home in Sacramento.  We are raising funds to help cover the cost for living in the Beverly Hills/Los Angeles area. Raising funds for the transitional housing is critical because Corrina has been alone, as we have spent so much on the cost of flights and accomadations during visits prior to her transplant. Corrina desperately wants me to be there with her and I know that it is important to her healing process to have someone she knows with her.

The short term lease furnished apartments cost range from $4000 to $8400 a month.   We won't have a car so we will use UBER or Lift to get back and forth for her Doctor's appointments, which for the first 30 days are once a week and our other needs such as grocery shopping, etc.  Our hope is that she will be released from the hospital by August 1st, as these furnished units get booked fairly quickly due to the number of transplants done at Cedars and UCLA Medical Center.  We would like to reserve the apartment by July 25th or sooner.  If you can not give a cash donations UBER or Southwest Airline gift cards in any amount are also need and can be sent to Ardora McCalley, 4040 Dexter Circle, North Highlands, CA 95660.  I check on the availability of places everyday and several no longer have units available for Aug. 1st.  Please donate as quickly as you can, I will need to pay a deposit of $2000.00 to hold an apartment.  Thank you and God Bless.
