Hurricane Michael Devastation

Donation protected
Not all disastrous situations in life need to end disastrously. I am of the mindset that when faced with what seems impossible, look for what can lie ahead.

My name is Bret Littlefield along with my 14 year old son Coby who has autism and this is our story.

On October 10th Hurricane Michael, the most intense hurricane to hit Bay County, Florida, has left us (among thousands) homeless and displaced.

As a single father to a son who has Autism, I have always found joy and a sense of relief in my child as his smile and bright blue eyes shine no matter what is going on; When we left town with just a few clothes we believed this storm would be like those from previous years. We thought our house and belongings would remain intact. To our dismay, our house and home business and possessions were pretty much destroyed. The winds and tornadoes ripped the roof off most of our home. Some of our home has some how sunken into the ground.  My business office is gone, and the equipment is no longer functioning.
The school my son loves and has attended since he was 4 is closed now, until further notice.

I do hope to salvage some things in the wreckage; however, we must move forward from here by rebuilding everything we knew which defined our lives.

At this time, we are temporarily staying with family.  Our house is not habitable and according to the owner it's a complete loss.

What I do know is that I have to make sure my son's needs are met, which means I have to find a proper school for my son and get some sort of temporary office set up so I can get back to work, so a permanent home for my son can be found, as it's very important for him to have some semblance of normalcy and routine.

How I intend on spending the donations:
1. I have to replace the clothes. We lost a lot and Coby has a couple sets of clothes.
2. I want to replace a few of his toys, even though he is 14 in body his mind is like a 3 yo. He loves spoons, building blocks and marching bands.
3. I need to figure out an office. I work from home and get paid on production and have to get back online.
4. We have to find a place to live.

I realize thousands of other families out there, including many of my friends and relatives are in much worse shape than myself, however any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I am currently in Panama City attempting to salvage what I can and Coby is staying with family so not to upset him.  I will update this as we go with more information on our needs. We truly thank you for sharing this campaign and we send our love and hugs to those that have donated.   Bret & Coby Litttlefield
